I love a ripe cantelope, the juicy flesh just begging to be scooped out, the musky scent and the gorgeous color~vibrant yet, somehow delicate. Healthy is beautiful!

I concocted a divine cake from scratch the other day~ yellow cake made with wine, chestnut filling from France, topped with fresh whipped cream. It was an experiment that worked! ~rave reviews! A piece of cake for breakfast with a cup of coffee in my favorite Spode mug, perfection~

Getting ready to set out tea for guests~ its a good thing. A different experience in so many cultures, some add mint, some use loose tea… But the intent is all the same. To offer hospitality and conversation, to take time with someone. I will never forget many years ago~ my friend Kristin, with a tray of tea and some quiet space in her home after a troubling day in mine. Thank you dear friend, your comfort and hospitality was never forgotten~

Peonies, a turquoise scarf and blue and white china, an experimental painting using some of my favorite things~ They are just starting to poke out of the ground with the early spring we are having this year! I cant wait for their magnificent arrival! I just hope the predicted (shhhhh **sn@^^) doesnt interfere!

Granny Smith apples with their distinctive crunch and juicy zing. A bowl of them just begs to be eaten! They don’t last long in our house~ but look oh so pretty until they are gone! An apple a day…

A bowl of oranges is so wonderfully, classically simple. So cheerful to look at when you walk through a room, the scent delicately sweet and clear. (They remind you that not all great tasting foods are bad for you) Peeling an orange and getting that little spritz of citrus is just as satisfying as eating them~ Orange you glad…? *groan*

One of my most favorite visitors is my nephew Teddy. I don’t know which one of us gets more excited! When he comes, I stop everything else. We cook, we bake, we have tea… He loves my tea cups with the tops and he loves honey~what can I say, I think he inherited his good taste from me;)

Jane Whittemore~ age 23, in 1945 with the American Red Cross Special Services, the 350th Infantry Regiment WWII, 88th Blue Devil Division in Monte Battaglia, Italy. Wow! its true! A girl driving a jeep?  WAS and IS one of the coolest things ever~ After providing moral support, food and entertainment for the servicemen and attending Wells College she married Frederick Brace and had 5 children and now… 14 grandchildren! Today is her birthday, shes 90! Happy, healthy ,thriving and inspiring!! ~Doesnt this just make you want you to go out, drive a jeep, braid your hair and do some good in the world?
